MICHELLE LEE MD | NEW YORK DOCTOR WRITER
I'm a Cornell-trained doctor & writer with articles on health & community issues published in Washington Post, New York Magazine, NBC, Stat News, Zagat, Eater, Salon, & more. I've published & shared my experiences as a first-year medicine doctor on NYC's COVID-19 frontline, including on PBS.
I was awarded Cornell Medical School's Pioneer in Diversity Award for my advocacy work featured in Associated Press, Now This News & PBS (clips below), where I speak about immigrant AAPI community issues & healthcare worker mental health during COVID. I encouraged COVID vaccination & raised awareness of barriers faced by elderly & immigrant communities on East Side Stories. After the fatal 2021 Atlanta shootings, I organized USA's First White Coat Rally for the AAPI community, where I spoke to >1,000 people at NYC's largest peaceful AAPI rally alongside NY Senator Chuck Schumer & Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang.
I've led diversity lectures/discussions at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Mercer School of Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital & FIGS, a public US company. I'm also quoted/featured in Time, NPR, Gothamist, Associated Press, Now This News, New York Presbyterian Health Matters, NBC, ABC, Voice of America, KTLA, and more. I'm currently a podcast host for "Moving Ahead in Medicine" on MedCentral geared towards early and mid-career physicians navigating clinical practice and professional growth.
